Most of the attention was placed on Oceanside coach John Carroll who has led his Pirates into the semifinals for the 14th consecutive season. But whether the team was familiar, like Oceanside and Helix, or new to the event, like Mt. Miguel or Madison, everyone in attendance was excited about the possibility of making it to the finals at Qualcomm Stadium.
