POWAY PLOWS THROUGH RANCHO BERNARDO
11.14.08 - by: Andrew Jensen

The Poway Titans defeated their cross-town rival Rancho Bernardo Broncos 59-26 on Friday night.  Poway dominated early taking their opening drive 55 yards, which was capped off by an eight yard Nic Ricciardulli touchdown run. Ricciardulli would score three more times, giving him 19 touchdowns for the season and would finish with close to 200 yards on the ground. Titan quarterback John Jensen-Johnson finished with two touchdown strikes, one for 83 yards to Brett Thomas, and a 35 yard pass to Steven Reed.

Rancho Bernardo recovered a blocked punt in the end-zone for their first score, and quarterback Max Lai would score on a 43 yard run to keep the game close, but the Titans had too much fire power.

The KBCsports.com Player of the Game, Mitch Meyer, led the offensive live in creating holes for Ricciardulli to run through and giving plenty of time for Jensen-Johnson to find open receivers.

Poway finishes the regular season winning five straight, running their record to 7-3 and winning the Palomar League. Rancho Bernardo finishes the 2008 campaign at 2-8.
